At Swift, we're proud to be part of the VA on-the-job training and apprenticeship program. Approved by the U.S. Department of Labor to assist military veterans as they transition to a civilian occupation, it's just one of the ways we support Swift veterans.
Apprenticeships for veterans are open to Active-Duty members of the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force, as well as those who have served or are currently serving in either the Reserves or National Guard.
To participate in the program, you must also:
- Have an active GI Bill with education benefits
- Contact the Swift veteran apprenticeship manager at 888-845-9115
- Complete a 22-1990 or 22-1995 with the VA
- Stay employed with Swift Transportation for 12 months
- Sign a VA training agreement
For complete details on the requirements and standards that govern the veteran apprentice programs, visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs page for on-the-job training and apprenticeship.
Getting Started with Swift
At the VA on-the-job training and apprenticeship website, you'll find a step-by-step guide to enrolling in a program. And although you'll find several trucking companies with similar programs, we think choosing Swift is the smart choice.
Not only will you receive a world-class education from caring, knowledgeable instructors, but you'll earn your Class A CDL and join a company that honors your commitment to our country – and your family. After leaving the U.S. military, we will stand by you as you continue to serve in the Reserves or National Guard (if you so choose), and we'll work with you to create a driving schedule that supports your family's busy lifestyle. In addition, our veterans also receive more pay per mile than non-veteran drivers and all the benefits of our special Swift veterans program. Plus, with our scholarship programs for your spouse and dependents, we can help your family members achieve their goals, too.
