Knight-Swift Transportation (Knight-Swift), North America’s largest full truckload carrier, has been selected to transport the 2025 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, lovingly nicknamed Silver Belle. The tree will be harvested from the Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and make its way to Washington, D.C., with celebratory stops in communities along the route.

As part of the more than 50-year-old holiday tradition known as the “People’s Tree,” the tree will embark on a nearly 3,000-mile journey, making stops at local celebrations and community events along the route to share the spirit of the season.

Knight-Swift was chosen as the hauler for this year’s tree at the recommendation of Kenworth Truck Company, a long-standing sponsor of the initiative, based on its exceptional safety record and industry leadership.

This year’s driver, Michael Porter, based at Swift Transportation’s Phoenix Arizona Terminal, brings an enthusiasm for driving and a reputation for professionalism and service. Michael has been with the company for seven years. He takes pride in the results that come from his hard work. Throughout his career, Michael has participated in unique deliveries for Swift’s Flatbed division, especially oversized loads. The open road has given him a front-row seat to the country’s beauty, but this year is especially meaningful as he will be transporting the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. “It’s truly an honor to represent Knight-Swift for such a historic trip,” Michael says. “I’m most excited to see all of the people at all the stops, all the smiles and cheers. Just seeing everyone excited for the holiday season.”

When asked what the holidays mean to him, Michael’s answer reflects a simple appreciation for connection and reflection. “I love how the holidays slow everything down a little bit. It’s a good time to reflect and enjoy good company, good food, and good times.” And while this holiday delivery will of course be remembered for its scale, Michael sees it as something more. “This kind of event isn’t just a delivery,” he says. “It’s a symbol — and for Swift, it’s a chance to celebrate the trucking industry’s essential role in connecting America.”
